Choose from a course of evening classes, a relaxed weekend workshop, or an immersive short course —whatever suits your schedule and sewing goals. Classes are taught in our lovely studio in the heart of the Tweed Valley, with groups limited to five or fewer so that you have all the help and expert-guidance that you need.

At The Sewing Table Peebles, we start by perfecting your sewing foundations, teach a professional approach to bespoke garment making, and offer classes in pattern cutting and fitting for those who wan to expand their sewing horizons.

Beginners

Into to Sewing Machines

The three hour Intro to Sewing Machines is your starting point to great sewing. Learn all about how to use your sewing machine properly and complete a simple sewing project to take home with you

Using Commercial Patterns

If you are interested in making clothes, then the 3hr Using Commercial Patterns workshop is a great follow on from the Intro to Sewing Machines. We demystify these little envelopes so that you can pick a pattern, measure up correctly, choose the right fabric and get making.

Make A Crossover Apron Short Course

In this two day class, we complete a crossover apron together, walking through the whole process of cutting and constructing a garment, one step at a time. This class provides a complete foundation in the essential garment making principles, plus several really useful sewing techniques.

Intermediate

Dressmaking

Once you've gained a good foundation in all of the essentials, you can join a block of dressmaking classes and start your own personal project, with help and guidance on hand. Each dressmaking class starts with a demonstration and practical in a new  technique so that you can build skills while you progress your own project.

Intermediate Sewing Skills

Build your sewing skills in a structured way with the Intermediate Skills Week or intensive weekend course.  Step-by-step sample making to help you really master and understand a range of the trickier sewing techniques that will help you to confidently progress to more complex garments.

Overlocking

Overlockers and Sewing Stretch

In our one day Overlockers and Sewing Stretch class, we learn all about  these super useful machines and how we can use them for basic seam finishing and constructing stretch garments. 

Get to grips with tensions, differentials, cutting widths and threading up before learning a range of really useful techniques. This class should leave you feeling confident about using your overlocker so that you can give your garments a really professional finish.

Pattern Cutting

Intro to Pattern Cutting

Open up a world of possibilities by learning how to cut your own dress patterns from scratch. Our short course will introduce you to the core principles and techniques that we use to cut bespoke patterns.

This course is ideal for anyone looking to level-up their garment-making skills and take the next step into the world of pattern drafting. Learn about how to draw up basic blocks, how to alter them to fit individual figures, and how to transform them into all manner of styles.
