Service Description

**This page is for a private cottage within the courtyard** This sewing retreat is suitable for all levels, whether you’re a complete newbie who doesn’t know where to start, or an experienced dressmaker who would like a few indulgent days to relax and sew in good company with some professional guidance on hand. There will be one of The Sewing Table’s most popular workshops every day, which everyone is welcome to join, or feel free to skip the subjects that you are already comfortable with and get working on your own personal projects. The rest of the day will be devoted to progressing your chosen sewing projects, with help and advice on hand from Sara, so that you can make the retreat your own. Groups will be kept small so that everyone can get the help and attention that they need, and when you book your spot you will have the opportunity to schedule a video call with Sara before the retreat starts to discuss what you should bring. Workshops to include: Intro to sewing machines Threading up, balancing tensions, correct needle and thread selection, different stitches and what they’re for, different presser feet and what they do, avoiding tangles and trouble shooting, machine maintenance, seam sampler. Pattern Alterations Lengthening / shortening, Increase / decrease a waist, increase / decrease a hip, full bust adjustments Intro to Overlockers Threading up, balancing tensions, understanding differentials, basic seam finishing, cutting width adjustment, narrow and wide overlocking Sewing Stretch Sewing stretch seams, “coverstitched” hems, mock hems, self fabric and ribbed cuffs, stretch neckbands Replicating patterns Taking a pattern from an existing garment We will start the retreat with a welcome drink in the sewing room on Sunday evening, where you can meet your tutor and your course mates, before a relaxing evening in your charming self-catering cottage. The days will be structured around a morning workshop, a 2-course lunch together in the cafe, and then the afternoon will be yours to sew, walk or explore the local area. Cancellation Policy

Booking Policy – The Sewing Table Retreats Booking and Payments The full cost of the retreat is required upon booking, and a 20% portion of the total cost is non-refundable. This helps us secure your place and cover upfront costs. Cancellations and Refunds If you need to cancel before December 31st 2025, we will refund 80% of your total payment (the non-refundable 20% deposit is retained). No refunds are available for cancellations made after December 31st 2025, or for non-attendance. Transfers If you know someone who would love to attend in your place, you are welcome to transfer your booking to another person at any time at no additional cost. Accommodation Booking Procedure The booking for the accommodation will be made directly with The Sewing Table and processed by Crabtree & Crabtree. Please read Crabtree and Crabtree’s terms and conditions Security Deposit In accordance with their terms and conditions, Crabtree & Crabtree will require a security deposit of £250 to cover the cost of any damage or breakages to or at the property. You will be notified if there is cause to charge any proportion of the security deposit. Retreat Cancellation In the unlikely event that The Sewing Table must cancel the retreat, you will be offered either a full refund of all payments made, or a partial refund if you would like to keep the accommodation booking.
