Beginners sewing | Intro to Sewing

Are you new to sewing and need walking through the basics? Or has it been a while since you did any sewing and you need a refresher? Come to this half day beginners sewing workshop and learn everything you need to know to confidently get sewing! Bring your machine along for this 3hr Saturday morning workshop, or use one of the studio machines. We will cover: Filling bobbins and threading up Understanding and balancing thread tensions Correct needle and thread selection Length, width and pattern selectors How to sew accurately and stay straight Using the footplate guidelines Backtacking to secure seams How to avoid tangles and skipped stitches Once we're up and running we'll practice a selection of stitches and then complete a cool little fabric storage box to take home with you! Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided to keep everyone going, but you should bring a very basic sewing kit of thread snips and pins for practising your stitches. This is a great wee workshop for novices and lapsed sewists alike, and a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.
